Abby Griffith-Barrow
Abby is a Melbourne-based harpist and dedicated harp teacher with a passion for inspiring students of all ages and abilities. She holds a Diploma of Music from the University of Melbourne and brings a wealth of performance and experience to her teaching.
Her musical journey began at age 5, learning violin and piano before transitioning to the harp. Abby began her harp journey at age 11, learning at Ballarat Grammar under her teacher Moya Jess. She has completed VCE Music Performance, AMEB harp examinations, and earning recognition at South Street Competitions. She has further refined her artistry through masterclasses with internationally acclaimed harpist Alice Giles, and has had the privilege of studying under teacher Jacinta Dennett..
A highlight of her performance career has been her role as second harpist with Melbourne Opera, where she dedicated six months to rehearsals and performances for the Ring Cycle Opera Season in Bendigo, a testament to her commitment and professional artistry. She also played harp as a part of her lead role position in ‘Once Upon A Mattress’, incorporating harp into her passion of musical theatre.
With over two years of teaching experience, Abby welcomes students of all ages and levels, from complete beginners through to intermediate and advanced players. She is experienced in preparing students for AMEB examinations and creates a warm, friendly, and encouraging learning environment where every student feels motivated to grow and, above all, to love the harp.
