Lydia is a Melbourne-based guzheng artist and educator with over ten years of classical training and performance experience. Having studied within the traditional Chinese conservatory system, she has developed strong technical foundations, refined musical expression, and a deep understanding of both traditional repertoire and contemporary interpretations.

Now living in Melbourne’s CBD, Lydia teaches students in the city and previously in the Glen Waverley area. She is widely recognised for her gentle presence, warm communication style, and exceptional patience. Lydia builds natural rapport with children and creates a calm, nurturing environment where young learners feel supported and inspired. Her thoughtful and steady approach also makes her an ideal teacher for adult beginners who appreciate mindful, expressive and confidence-building lessons.

Beyond teaching, Lydia is an active performer and collaborator. She has experience in ensemble work, cross-instrument performances, and community music events, and she is open to artistic collaborations, cultural programs, and creative projects involving Chinese music or cross-cultural performance.

In her lessons, Lydia integrates traditional guzheng techniques with exam repertoire, pop arrangements and expressive modern styles. She believes that the guzheng is both an instrument and a medium for emotional expression—something that can accompany a person’s inner world with beauty, sensitivity and grace. Her goal is to help each student discover confidence, artistry and personal meaning through music.
