The Melbourne Guitar Orchestra is a FREE community guitar ensemble run by teachers of

The Plucked String music studio in Southbank.

The orchestra is designed to be an inclusive and encouraging space for musicians to meet like minded individuals, while also gaining hands-on classical guitar ensemble experience.

We are a Classical Guitar focused group, playing repertoire by Australian composers that require a Classical Guitar Practical Skill Level of approximately Grade 4 AMEB

&

Western Music Theory Skill Level of approximately Grade 2 AMEB.

However,

people of all skill levels are welcome to attend - it's ok if you can’t keep up and need to play

'air-guitar' every now and then!

This group is free to attend, although participants must provide their own music stand, instrument & download music from our Google Drive (we will send you a link once you are registered).  

Please Note: All sheet music we provide is written in Western Notation.

Please Note: Our preferred instrument for members is a Nylon String Classical Guitar, however, we will also welcome: Soprano Guitars, Requinto Guitars, Contrabass Guitars, Acoustic Bass Guitars Electric Bass Guitars, Steel String Acoustic Guitars.

*No Electric Guitars*

Rehearsals take place Monday nights from 6:30pm - 8:00pm at our offices' rooftop rehearsal space located at 370 St Kilda Rd, Southbank.
