Matilda Roszkowski
Matilda moved to Melbourne from Canberra in 2026 to pursue her love for music through a Diploma of Music complemented with a Bachelor's degree in Biomedicine. She has been playing piano since she was 8 years old, but her passion for music started to bloom from 2022, after being awarded a high distinction for her AMEB Grade 8 Collaborative Piano Exam. Since then, she has continued to exponentially improve her playing, including receiving her school's 2024 Music Scholarship and being awarded the 2025 Kingsland Fellowship. She has worked collaboratively in a variety of musical settings and has been teaching for over four years, since the age of 15. She has learnt from many notable teachers, such as Caroline Almonte, Edward Neeman and Ella Luhtasaari, as well as received one-off lessons and masterclasses from prominent musicians including Elena Kats-Chernin, Bernadette Harvey, Justine Marsden and more.
In addition to piano, Matilda also enjoys playing and teaching violin. She has performed with chamber groups such as the Canberra Symphony Youth Chamber Orchestra and the ANU Community Music Centre, and in 2024 her string trio BAM entered Musica Viva’s national Strike-A-Chord competition, winning the Australian Music Prize. She has taught adult beginner students and volunteered to assistant mentor beginner violin students at her school. Currently, Matilda plays an active role as the secretary and a violinist in the Melbourne University Biomedicine Students’ Orchestra and in its respective chamber music programs.
Matilda's expertise is her well-roundedness to a variety of musical skills, having undertaken lessons in the Flow technique, Alexander technique, conducting and jazz music. She also has performed in and organised several professional concerts and is acutely aware of both the theoretical and practical elements of music.
