Yimin Wang is currently furthering her Classical Guitar performance studies at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, University of Melbourne, under the tutelage of Dan Mackay. She began her classical guitar training in China, studying with PhD candidate Ken Zixiao Wei.

Yimin’s educational philosophy is grounded in patience and a long-term approach to learning. She values the exploration of musical beauty, personal growth, and inner development over the pursuit of quick results or purely technical achievement. To Yimin, music possesses its own soul and transformative power; it has been an essential companion in her own personal growth and healing, and she strives to guide her students toward experiencing music as a meaningful and enriching part of their lives. While her teaching is not driven by examinations alone, she is fully capable of supporting students in reaching the technical and musical standards required for successful performance assessments and AMEB exams.

An active performer in Melbourne’s classical music scene, Yimin is the co-founder of several chamber ensembles. She regularly performs with and provides administrative support for the Rainforest Guitar Duo, CedarSpruceCedar Guitar Trio, Fourwood Guitar Quartet, and the Song of Cranes Chinese Music Ensemble.

Outside of music, Yimin enjoys reading Tarot cards and exploring Melbourne, the ‘Garden City’. Lessons with Yimin are available in both English and Mandarin.
