Camille El Feghali

Camille El Feghali is a multi-instrumentalist and music educator specialising in Middle Eastern Maqam traditions. His practice spans Qanun, Nay, Oud, Buzuq, Baglama, and Zurna, alongside deep engagement with Arabic music theory and performance practice.

His educational approach is rooted in the oral transmission that has shaped Middle Eastern music for centuries. Rather than relying solely on Western standardisation, he combines structured technical development with listening, imitation, repertoire building, and guided improvisation. Students develop a strong understanding of maqamat, rhythmic cycles, ornamentation, phrasing, and stylistic nuance, while cultivating their own musical voice.

Through his work with the Arab Music Archiving and Research Foundation (AMAAR), Camille gained extensive knowledge of historical recordings, regional styles, and traditional performance aesthetics. This research-driven foundation informs his work in the studio, connecting repertoire to its cultural and historical context.

As an active performer under the artist name Tarabeat, Camille bridges traditional repertoire and experimental forms, bringing professional stage and studio experience into his educational practice. He fosters a supportive and engaging learning environment suited to both beginners and advanced musicians, encouraging curiosity, discipline, and a meaningful connection to the music.
