About
The Melbourne Community Middle Eastern Music Ensemble is a community ensemble organised by The Plucked String and directed by our wonderful teacher,
Damien McCluskey.
The ensemble is designed to be an inclusive and encouraging space for musicians from all walks of life to meet like minded individuals who are interested in Middle Eastern music, while also gaining hands-on ensemble experience.
People of all skill levels and instruments are welcome!
Oud - Kanun - Bazuq - Ney - Darbuka -Saz - Rebab - Kamancheh - Darbuka - Riq & other Percussion
Participants are encouraged to bring their own instruments. We also welcome complete beginners. We can provide an instrument for you to use and give you basic instruction. Just email us before attending your first rehearsal!
This ensemble primarily plays Damiens compositions
alongside some traditional repertoire.
Rehearsals take place Thursday nights from 7:00pm - 8:00pm located on the roof of our building 370 St Kilda Rd, Southbank.
