Kristin Galla
As a trained musician and vocalist, Kristin brings her musicality into her work as a Music Therapist in a grounded and intentional way, using music as a means to support people in working towards meaningful, non-music-based goals.
Kristin brings a wealth of knowledge, having worked extensively in the community sector. Kristin currently works with people from a range of diverse backgrounds, including people with autism, intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, complex and multiple disabilities, people recovering from acquired brain injuries, as well as individuals living with dementia or other progressive neurological or chronic conditions.
Kristin believes that each person holds a unique and valuable story shaped by their lived experience. She works from a person-centred and anti-ableist framework, aiming to create a space where people feel respected, heard, and supported to express themselves in ways that feel authentic to them. Kristin strongly values the unique gifts and experiences that neurodivergent people bring to the world, with extensive experience across a range of settings in this space, including community and disability support work, early childhood intervention (Key Worker), as a Positive Behaviour Support practitioner, and as a registered Music Therapist.
Kristin also draws on strengths-based approaches, working alongside individuals to recognise and build on their existing capacities as they move towards their goals. Kristin aims to create a space that honours the full spectrum of a person’s life, including their social and emotional experiences, and, where relevant, the personal, spiritual, or transcendent aspects that contribute to their sense of meaning and purpose.
